3. Judo:


Judo or 柔道 means ‘The Gentle way’ in Japanese and was created in 1882. Judo was originally a combination of Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, mental discipline, and other martial arts. Judo is known to be one of the most physically demanding martial arts and relies heavily on strength, speed, agility, and discipline.

Judo is a martial art that mainly focuses on throwing techniques mixed with submission holds like chokes or joint locks used in hand-to-hand combat.

Some of the main Judo techniques are:


I. Seo Nagi (shoulder throw) is the most popular technique in Judo and is done by grabbing your opponent, turning to your back, and then throwing him over your shoulder using the power generated by your hips.



II. Ude Hishigi Juji Gatame is a submission lock known as the ‘arm bar’ it involves trapping your opponent's arm between your legs, then stretching it to try and hyper extend his elbow in order to make him submit by tapping.






2. Muay Thai:


Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is a martial art originated in Thailand which uses striking techniques like punches, elbows, knees, and the clinch in order to defend yourself against an attacker. Muay Thai is universally known as ‘the art of eight limbs’ due to it using every limb in the human body as a weapon.

Muay Thai is known to be one of the most effective martial arts when it comes to stand up combat.

Some of the main techniques in Muay Thai are


I) Mat Nueng or ‘The Jab’ is simply a straight punch, and is used by Muay Thai practitioners against their opponents in order to manage distance and keep their opponents from attacking.



II) Te Tat or ‘Roundhouse kick’ is one of the most devastating attacks in Muay Thai. It involves the attacker raising his leg, spinning, and then hitting his opponent using his foot.






1. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or BJJ:


is a martial art originated in Japan; however, it was later picked up by a Brazilian family known as ‘The Gracie Family’. BJJ became popular after members of the Gracie family began challenging practitioners of other martial arts and ending up defeating every single one of them.

BJJ focuses mainly on submission locks and fighting on the ground, but it has some takedown techniques inspired by Wrestling and Judo which aim to get your opponent to the ground.

Some of the main BJJ techniques involve:


I) The Rear Naked Choke, which involves taking your opponent's back, sinking in both hooks(legs) to ensure stability, wrapping your hands around your opponent's neck, and finally squeezing your arms in order to cut the breath of your opponent which will eventually force him to submit.



II) The Kimura lock is a technique used by grabbing your opponent's wrist using both of your hands, tilting your body in a forward position, and finally applying pressure by twisting your opponent's arm.
