5 Tips you Must Know for Effective Time Management

I had a friend in high school who I always considered very lazy.

Tammy was smart, but never got to working till the last minute, till he desperately needed to start. I met him in the summer after his first year back from university. Tammy told me he studies as a full time student, works part time as an assistant at the library. Trains at least 5 times a week to make the football team and claims to have a pretty active social life, yes! the man has a girlfriend too.

This was the same guy who in high school would watch movies in french to avoid having to look for the remote to change the channel.

I wondered how Tammy was able to turn his life around like this and asked him so.

He responded by giving me 5 tips on time management in all the successful avenues of his life that has helped this author achieve greater and widespread success.

TIP 1

Finish the important stuff first

Tammy made it clear to me that finishing things/or at least getting started on them before time is important, but prioritizing the correct tasks and the correct time was imperative. If a big assignment was coming up, the training and social life would have to take a backseat so the important stuff was out of the way.

TIP 2

Sleep early and wake up early

Sleeping on time not only kept Tammy energized during these brutal university days, but they also allowed him the chance to wake up before everyone else where he could spend time on his important tasks without distraction or commitments with others. Tammy referred to it as the “Titan Schedule” where he would sleep from 10pm-4am to get a head start on his day.

Tip 3

Exercise

You thought Tammy needed to make time for exercise? No, Tammy claims that exercise increased productivity and energy throughout the day and he always looked at it as a vehicle for better time management as opposed to just another task he had to do that cost time.

Tip 4

Plan…and stick to it

Plan your day in advance. Allocate estimated times to all your tasks so you know when you finish an can move on to the next. Tammy does it, so should you.

Tip 5

Enjoy it!

Work can be play and play can be work. make sure to take some time to enjoy what you like and smell the roses so to speak. To help you find your passion we encourage you to check out Vutor. If you enjoy what you do, it’ll never feel like work, at least that's what Tammy says
